A single story that sparked everything.

I’m Moish Noble, and it might be surprising that founding Lev Shalom wasn’t planned.

There was no ribbon-cutting ceremony. No grand opening. No kickoff event.

It started with a friend. A friend who opened up by sharing the harsh realities of his mental health struggles. The details were heartbreaking, and I knew I couldn’t just ignore his predicament. So, I decided to take action. Funds were raised. Therapy was paid for. And the results? They were everything.

Witnessing the tangible shift in my friend’s life confirmed what I had long known- accessible mental health resources are essential.  This firsthand encounter became the organization’s cornerstone—a commitment to extending the same life-changing support to others.

The double burden of mental illness.

When a physical ailment strikes, our community shines. Rides. Meals. Gifts. But for mental health-related illnesses, silence often replaces support. Judgment eclipses compassion.

The invisible nature of mental illness can lead to dangerous assumptions:

It's a matter of willpower

It's something people can just 'snap out of'

It's a personal failing (not a medical challenge)

Those battling mental health struggles face a twofold challenge: the illness itself and the stigma that isolates them. Fearing judgment, they often hesitate to seek help and suffer in silence.

Lev Shalom fills this vital gap Whether it’s assisting with funds, advocating for patients who are hospitalized in psychiatric facilities, or just giving heartfelt chizuk, we’re here in the ways we’re needed most.
